Todd Jones here. Long story short, but management from this tour begged NAILS to be a special guest (secret "Killing Floor" set). We wanted to test their dedication to the cause, so we told them to track down Voivod's Away and take a photo of him holding NAILS' 2013 classic ABANDON ALL LIFE in LP form while donning an ultra-morose and darkly-perverse leather killing hide. Homeboys went into some spiel about how they didn't have the resources to make that happen and how the request was "not normal", so we put on the aviators and latered those posers for eternity. They will never be one of us.

Admittedly I'm 10+ years out of the loop on the hardcore scene, but does shit like this actually draw?

This is basically a trade show to connect bands with the unstable women who will cancel their band after having consensual sex.

^^^ No. Fests have what I call "artificial draw." The initial draw is it's tons of bands for a reasonable per band price & basically somewhere to hang out all day. The next draw is out of town in an unfamiliar or familiar city, usually so far away you have to stay at a hotel for a night or two so it's a getaway/vacation. Many parents love these fests cuz it's a great way to get their kids out of the house for 2-4 days & they're more than happy to cover the fest tickets, hotels, flights & food. The artificial draw is attendee brings at least 3 to 5 people with them when they usually bring a person or two to a local/area show which makes sense. If you live in New Jersey are you going to Louisville Kentucky alone? Most likely not. Are you going with just a person or two? Sure but then it's more expense money per person. Bring 3-5 people with you & you pay less per person for the hotel.

^^^ Continued... If just 200 people want to hit a fest (who I call "leaders") that's at least 800 attendees assuming each leader brings an average of three people with them.

^^^ Fests are basically big get togethers with bands. If you book 15 bands a day for three days & charge $150 you'll do fine. You don't really even have to get headliners - see this show. There aren't really any headliners on this. Some are big where they're from but that's it & that's fine. Another draw is they're all together & when/where are you gonna see these bands together again? You live in Iowa - who the hell is coming there?
