Dark Tranquillity completes new album

Official press release (Century Media Records): Swedish melodic death metal pioneers Dark Tranquillity has just completed work on their highly anticipated new album, which is currently being mixed by the acclaimed Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted). The as-yet-untitled new opus is set for a spring 2007 release. Mikael Stanne (vocals) checks in with the following report: "I can't believe we made it! The new album is finally done. We spent seven weeks in the studio, and it was a blast. I just finished the last vocal lines a couple of days ago, and it feels sweet. As always with recordings there is a lot of stress and self-doubt, but being in a more than familiar environment in Martin Brandstrom's (keyboards) studio (Rogue) has helped tremendously. The recordings have not only been smooth and focused, but the overall feeling that we are creating something amazing has really driven us through this. "It turned out so different and diverse that the hardest thing for me now is to find a suitable title for the whole thing. I don't know how to sum up in a title something that is everything and nothing, grounded and out there, introverted and extra terrestrial all at the same time. Right now, I am just so glad it's done. Anders did a fantastic job grinding and beating (off) in the studio, Micke has delivered some really crushing bass, Martin and Niklas have really outdone themselves with great riffs and truly outstanding solos, and Martin B. has poured a lot of misery and anxiety into his soundscapes. Now all we can do is wait for the mix. We can't wait to share it with you all." Dark Tranquillity holds the esteemed distinction as being one of the bands responsible for founding an entirely new genre of death metal music in the early '90s, which came to be known as "The Gothenburg Sound." Their previous album, Character, was hailed by critics and fans alike as the group's most savage and dynamic offering yet. They also solidified their U.S. fanbase after numerous tours alongside the likes of such genre titans as In Flames, Opeth, Soilwork, among others. In 2007, Dark Tranquillity returns to add another stunning chapter to the genre they helped create.

Their shows= a legion of long-haired, ugly kids, with all black clothes, showing their horns and they all smell like sweat and cheese. And for the entire show, no one moves, except 30 year old drunk guys push moshing.
