Slipknot's Shawn "Clown" Crahan confirms long awaited album, 'Look Outside Your Window', is coming

Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan has confirmed progress on the long-awaited Look Outside Your Window album, revealing that the project is now "out of my hands" with plans for its release finally moving forward.

Initially recorded during the same sessions as Slipknot's 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, the project has become a mythical piece of Slipknot lore. Described as more experimental and atmospheric, Look Outside Your Window has been likened by vocalist Corey Taylor to having a "Radiohead vibe" with a rockier, more melodic edge. Despite years of teasing, the album remained shelved for over 16 years, fueling anticipation among fans.

In a sit down with Metal Hammer, Guitarist Jim Root even joked earlier this year about "threatening to leak" the album to push its release, but Crahan has since taken the final steps to ensure the record sees the light of day.

Speaking with NME, Crahan acknowledged delays but reassured fans that the process is now moving forward.

I did say it was going to be in 2024, and I gave it the best fight that I could to make it this year. What I can tell you is that I showed Corey the final artwork two days ago. It is happening, but unfortunately, because of Christmas and New Year and the way business works, I can't slide it in this year.

Crahan emphasized that the album is now in the hands of Slipknot's management, with plans fully in motion.

The management has it, and it is coming out. I'm really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it! It's not a hype thing, just something we did while working on other albums. It's an honest action of creating music with no rules.

While Crahan admitted uncertainty over how the album will be received, he expressed confidence in its authenticity:

I don't know if it's 'good,' but I know that I love it. I hope that the people who waited and waited think it was worth it too.

Slipknot has spent 2024 commemorating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. The band recently wrapped up a U.K. tour and has scheduled shows in Australia and Europe for 2025.
