Khemmis denied entry into Switzerland, will miss scheduled show in Zurich
Update: Royal Thunder canceled their appearance on this tour prior to it starting.
Having just started their European mini-tour with Royal Thunder, Colorado doom metal outfit Khemmis has already hit a snag in just the second day of the trek. According to the band, a weight restriction has prevented them from entering Switzerland to perform tonight in Zurich at X-tra Musikcafe.
The band and their vehicle were 'too heavy' and tickets for the show are refundable.
The band has shared the following:
Sorry, Switzerland. Your gov't took a big bite of our money and told us to go away. Come see us in Germany or France next time we come to Europe!
The band also released a more in-depth post regarding the situation:
Well, Zurich, we tried! The enforcers of your travel-related weights and measures have deemed us-specifically our vehicle—too heavy to proceed. If that comes as a surprise to you, rest assured we are QUITE shocked and very disappointed. The 30 minute drive we enjoyed before being detained by the long arm of the law was delightful.
So, after an unexpectedly hefty fee and half a day spent in a weigh station, we have been sent on our merry way to Germany. And yes, before you suggest "Well, did you try XYZ?," yes, yes we did. And all we got was "Pay the fine and leave." So it goes, eh?
All tickets are fully refunded. Please check with the venue/promoter if you have any questions. We hope to one day return to your scenic country under better circumstances.
