Six Feet Under debut new single "Ascension" from upcoming album 'Killing For Revenge'

Florida death/groove metal group, Six Feet Under, have shared their new single, "Ascension", from the band's upcoming 18th album, Killing For Revenge, out May 18th via Metal Blade Records

Guitarist Jack Owen shared the following regarding the new song:

I wrote the music first, with no lyrical ideas in mind. I wanted a small musical phrase that linked the parts together throughout the song, so I wrote a little chord/drum fill thing to segue riffs from the start of the song, through to the end. It turned out sounding like early Possessed, according to listeners. I have an archive of riffs, so I dug for some fast-picking parts that would be easy to sing to."

I had recently found a vinyl box set of works by Shakespeare, and listened to Macbeth. It's pretty violent! So while 'Ascension' isn't a direct interpretation of the story, it's my take on the classic tale of influence, revenge, and the fate you face. As with many of the songs, Chris lent his lyrical talents to make the song that much better.

This is actually pretty good considering that everything he's done after Cannibal Corpse is borderline butt rock.

Metal Blade tax write-offs are stoked. Band can't even tour any more because they don't draw and Banes is such a hater he seemingly doesn't want to do package tours that could maybe do OK at least.

This is sad

Rick here again. Killing for revenge is stupid. Killing for nachos? Understandable.

The thing is Jack Owen is not that great a songwriter.

I keep seeing this around on comments and it's dumb as hell. Metal Blade is a business like anywhere else or any other label. Chris isn't being kept around as a charity case. Obviously 6fu draws in money. As to why they don't tour U.S. maybe he has standards. U.S. crowds suck these days. Even at decent line up shows most folks heads are buried in their phones. Moshing is completely gay now too no one is getting steamrolled.

Dudes been scum since before Seth Putnam called it. He wanted an advance payout of their FULL box office amount at the Showcase in Corona hours before the show, staff was talking to owner and explained the show had now sold out so they were not entitled to a fully payout even after the show, let alone before. Barnes flipped, Owens tried calming him down and said "let's just do cool off, do it for the fans, get paid and move to the next show." Barnes ran to the bus saying ".. aw fu€K THE FANS!" in front of the fans... They eventually played, and Mambo (if you know, than you know) tore up some stoner stage divers. Showcase Forever. End of this chapter of Seth Putnam was before his time
