Sunny Day Real Estate return after 10 years with a new single, “Novum Vetus“

sunny day real estate 2023

After the mention of a new Sunny Day Real Estate track earlier this week, the band have returned with their first new song in 10 years. The track, "Novum Vetus", is a rework of an old track conceived in 1998 for How It Feels To Be Something On.

The band's return comes with the announcement of a 30th-anniversary tour for their seminal 1994 debut album Diary

Along with the tour, the band has re-recorded a live studio performance of Diary at London Bridge in Seattle, WA, slated for release on May 3rd as Diary (Live At London Bridge Studio).

They commented earlier this week:

This year is the 30th anniversary of our first record, Diary! We wanted to do something special to celebrate these songs that have brought us so much over the years. Not only are we excited to announce a US tour of the record in its entirety, we thought it would be fun to re-record the full album live in-studio as a better representation of how we play the songs now as we've evolved as musicians. Recorded at London Bridge Studio in Seattle. We couldn't be happier with the result of how it turned out. Nothing can touch the specialness of our original recording, but this recording in so many ways has its own power and magic that we hope you will enjoy. And for an added bonus we recorded a new song 'Novum Vetus'. An idea originally conceived around 1998 for 'How it Feels To Be Something On', but completed and restructured for this new recording. This Friday the 26th, you can buy tickets for the tour, hear/download the song on all DSPs and pre-order the album from our site. Thank you for listening all of these years!

Love, Sunny Day Real Estate
