Savage Lands (members of Megadeth, Sepultura, and Obituary) share new single to help reforestation
Season of Mist has joined forces with the musicians of Savage Lands in an unprecedented collaboration. In this groundbreaking move, the record label is partnering with and releasing the music of a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting forests in Costa Rica.
Savage Lands, founded in 2022 by Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren and musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercastel, addresses the threats posed to Costa Rica's ecosystem by deforestation. Witnessing firsthand the environmental impact, the duo decided to take action, establishing Savage Lands as a unique initiative that combines their passion for savage heavy metal and wildlife preservation.
The organization's debut single, "The Last Howl," is accompanied by a video featuring Andres Kisser (Sepultura) and John Tardy (Obituary). Notably, 100% of the song's royalties will contribute to protecting threatened lands from deforestation.
"The Last Howl" serves as a poignant tribute to the endangered howler monkey in Costa Rica. The track showcases Verbeuren's thunderous fills and cymbal work, accompanied by Sylvain's heavy distortion. With special guest appearances from Andreas Kisser and John Tardy, the song elevates its intensity with acrobatic solos and ferocious growls.
Dirk Verbeuren emphasizes the importance of taking action, stating, "If you want to make a difference, take action! Our greatest hope with Savage Lands is that it will inspire you to join us, and if you can, to start your own initiative to help preserve animals, forests, and our planet."
To further support the cause, listening to "The Last Howl" translates into direct contributions to forest preservation efforts. The track can be streamed below.
