Iron Maiden's bass tech runs through Steve Harris' tour setup

Brent Diamond

Iron Maiden recently released a video featuring Steve Harris' bass tech, Brent Diamond. In the video, Diamond provides a detailed overview of Harris' music setup for their tour. Harris relies on a Fender P bass with a signature pickup and a Shure wireless pack. The setup also includes a switch to choose the active packet and a switcher as a backup option.

In terms of signal flow, Harris uses an electron preamp and Marshall cabinets equipped with EV speakers. To ensure optimal sound quality, a DI (direct injection) box is incorporated, which splits the tone to the front of the house, and a Tech 21 pedal.

For emergency situations, Iron Maiden has a backup rig consisting of Galian Kruger and Tech 21 line components. This contingency plan ensures that the show can go on smoothly even in the face of challenges.

When it comes to tuning his bass, Harris prefers the Korg WT-12 tuner. He has been using this tuner for approximately three decades, but does acknowledge that it occasionally has issues. To mitigate any problems there, extra tuners are kept as backups.
