Peter "Mean Pete" Kowalsky has died

Mean Pete

Peter "Mean Pete" Kowalsky of Remembering Never, Until The End, xBISHOPx, Ether Coven, among many others, has passed away. Mean Pete was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in early 2020, but later shared an update later in the year stating that he was in remission. In 2021, he shared a new update via the Remembering Never account, seemingly in good spirits.

Last year, Mean Pete contributed a "Six Songs To Die With" for Lambgoat, and later committed to doing more with us. He had even filmed a record shopping video that is slated for release here in the near future. It is currently in editing and will be released on the site soon.

The last piece of writing we have from Pete was a contribution to our Quarter 1 Top Albums earlier this year. We had plans to work with Pete in the future as a columnist and content contributor, but his illness returned, and he was unable to contribute further. Our hearts go out to Pete's family and friends. We'll miss Mean Pete and all he brought to his music and the community. His talent and passion will always be remembered here at Lambgoat.

Vadim Taver shared the news on the Furnace Fest Community Facebook group, saying:

Some unfortunate news to share. I know a lot of you probably knew him from posting here every now and then or from the bands he played in, but unfortunately Peter Kovalsky passed away today from an aggressive cancer that had returned. I remember meeting him in 2000/2001 when This Day Forward played Club Q in Ft. Lauderdale and Remembering Never was opening. We played countless shows together with Until the End and even though we didn't speak regularly, I considered him a friend through the years. Thankfully, I got to see him last year because of Furnace Fest, but didn't think that would be our last meeting. Rest easy, old friend.

Stick To Your Guns/Eighteen Visions guitarist Josh James also confirmed with a tribute on his IG story playing an Until The End track, "Blood In The Ink":
