Drain announce new album, drop first single and music video

drain 2023

Julian Berman

Official press release:

NorCal hardcore trio Drain announce their highly anticipated sophomore album LIVING PROOF due for release on May 5th via Epitaph Records, pre-order here. Produced by longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Young (God's Hate, Suicide Silence) and mixed by Jon Markson (Drug Church, Koyo), this is for anyone looking for some good, friendly, hardcore fun.

Today, the band shares the music video to lead single "Evil Finds Light", adding a dash of lighthearted humor and playful energy to the track's thunderous breakdowns and guttural howls.

Vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro shared the following:

While DRAIN channels a rule-free chaos/party vibe through our live show, I am actually somewhat of a stress case haha. I get pretty wound up sometimes and so lyrically, I just tried to tap into those feelings and paint a picture of the way I feel and the way that stress can sometimes make me see my world a little bit different than it actually is. While the song is completed, managing the stress is still a work in progress." Watch the video below!

LIVING PROOF injects a serious dose of relatability—not to mention catchiness—into hardcore's penchant for toughness and brutality. With his face perpetually glued in a grin, vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro's snotty howl rides roughshod over thrash-leaning riffage as rhythms bounce in a big way. Drain isn't just a good time as Sammy presides over the chaos of stagediving bodies and mic-grabbing frontline; it's a party—and everyone is invited.

LIVING PROOF tracklist:
1. Run Your Luck
2. FTS (KYS)
3. Devils Itch
4. Evil Finds Light
5. Imposter
6. Intermission
7. Weight Of The World
8. Watch You Burn
9. Good Good Things
10. Living Proof

anonymous 2/7/2023 7:06:43 AM

I like em. Both biden and trump can eat my shit

anonymous 2/7/2023 7:11:15 AM

Band is cool. Music is tight. Not a bunch of pretentious douchebags who think they're gods gift to music like the rest of the Bay Area bands.

anonymous 2/7/2023 7:22:31 AM

Art work is cool, video is funny, the new song is weak.

anonymous 2/7/2023 7:38:24 AM

video doesnt look like a trio to me

anonymous 2/7/2023 7:40:08 AM

Decent song, don't know why that choad Colin Young had to ruin the video. Literally an irresponsible man child

anonymous 2/7/2023 7:41:50 AM

Every band member is an avatar nowadays. Love the token 90s hessian. This band is so corny.

anonymous 2/7/2023 8:24:11 AM

anonymous 2/7/2023 8:31:13 AM

Burzum > Drain

anonymous 2/7/2023 8:32:48 AM

Ron Jeremy, Jr. plays in a band? Who knew?

anonymous 2/7/2023 8:33:23 AM

I dunno... Pantera and White Zombie t-shirts? Something seems off here. If they are really from Santa Cruz, I would expect BL'AST, Good Riddance, and Mock shirts. C'mon guys - we know one of you works at NHS, you have access to cool shit. BTW, the Young brothers both suck and make poor musical decisions

anonymous 2/7/2023 8:39:26 AM

^ or, you know, they didn't grow up listening to those bands and aren't gonna act like they did. Is there anything dorkier than people commenting about T-shirt choices?

anonymous 2/7/2023 8:49:02 AM

colin is about to talk about his cameo in this video, without mentioning drain, for 2 hrs straight on the next episode of hardlore.

anonymous 2/7/2023 9:08:22 AM

Varg Vikernes here, Italians aren't white. Remember when I almost drowned trying to swim in a suit of chain mail?

anonymous 2/7/2023 9:08:51 AM

anonymous 2/7/2023 10:18:30 AM

THERE THE NEW MADBALL. Where?

anonymous 2/7/2023 10:27:33 AM

I actually kinda like these dudes and I hate anything San Jose related usually. Aka MID Jose the most overhyped city in central California. They don't seem like pretentious gatekeepers or fake tough guys which is a real nice change of pace.

anonymous 2/7/2023 10:29:43 AM

The young brothers just seem like Fronz or some lame Tik Tok influencers. The song was cool but they definitely didn't need to be involved with this video

anonymous 2/7/2023 11:23:46 AM

oh damn! I see homeboy in the RKL Keep Laughing shirt. they are A-O-K in my book. Nardcore is the best.

anonymous 2/7/2023 11:28:22 AM

east san jose matters. mass skateparks. poppin downtown. can get down to santa cruz and beach or mountains. you are tripping.

anonymous 2/7/2023 12:00:00 PM

colin young desperately trying to be a modern day peter steele. please give it up.

anonymous 2/7/2023 1:54:08 PM

Well they certainly changed up their sound to be something generic as f*ck didn't they? I have no doubt this will be a huge success.

turnstile 2/7/2023 2:40:21 PM

anonymous 2/7/2023 3:16:22 PM
