Cave In announce 'Heavy Pendulum' album, debut new song and video

Cave In will release a new album in May. Listen to lead single 'New Reality' right now.

Cave In

Jay Zucco

Official press release:

The legendary Cave In make a highly anticipated return with their Relapse Records debut, Heavy Pendulum, their first full studio record in over a decade. Cave In (Stephen Brodsky - guitar/vocals, Adam McGrath - guitar/vocals, John-Robert Conners - drums) sees a revival following the addition of Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders, Old Man Gloom) on bass and vocals.

Guitarist/Vocalist Stephen Brodsky comments: "Cave In's been around for over 25 years now, and the time has come for an album that scales all of our creative peaks. Talk about a wild and weird ride! And here we are with Heavy Pendulum - it certainly feels like a remarkable event, given the erratic trajectory of our band. 'New Reality' was always the lead-off track - that was pretty obvious during the writing process. New line-up, new label, new album... a new reality indeed, and it all adds up to a new lease on life for Cave In."

Watch Cave In's "New Reality" music video (directed by Michael Gilday) on YouTube:

Heavy Pendulum is out May 20th on DLX 2xLP/2xLP/CD/CS/Digital.

Produced by Kurt Ballou at God City, Heavy Pendulum showcases everything that has long established Cave In as one of the best contemporary rock, hardcore, and metal bands since their monumental 1998 debut Until Your Heart Stops. From the driving tracks such as crushing opener "New Reality" to the metallic edge of "Blood Spiller," Heavy Pendulum sees Cave In look back at their discography and capture their most memorable, visceral, and forward-thinking moments to create a record that is all at once familiar and in true Cave In fashion, ahead of the mainstream.

The ONLY Heavy Pendulum I am listening to is the one swinging between my legs.

Seems weird to not even mention Caleb in this press release or Brodsky quote, but whatever.

anonymous 151 days ago

This is a good day. You all have no taste.

anonymous 151 days ago

Never cared for Caleb's screaming, Nate's is too generic too…. I miss Brodsky's screaming from Until Your Heart Stops….

the tier list above is wrong, put zao in tier 1 and AILD in tier 5. Terror is God tier

I'm sure in fifteen years this will be looked back upon as visionary, ahead of its time, as well as underated.

hit me up at CaveInNumberOneFan@gmail.com for some sweet Cave In updates. Maybe we can meet up for a show, grab a frosty brew, browse Lambgoat together after we "cave in" each other's sidewalls.

So I assume this is some spacey post rock stuff like hopesfall has been doing?

Segregating bands into "tiers" is worthy of getting a spin kick to the side of your Helmet.-Special Kids. Your Scat van awaits you out front.
