Guitarist Marzi Montazeri, a member of Louisiana metal band Exhorder since their 2017 reformation, has announced his departure from the group.

"With all my love to the boys in Exhorder I have decided to no longer be a part of it!" said Montazeri. "I have a lot going on and it's beautiful! I'll soon let y'all know!"

anonymous 1 hour ago The reunion bombed. Yeah too bad they didn't receive the attention they deserved in the early 90s but a cult thrashy groove legacy act was probably going to struggle to find an audience now regardless.

Matt Fox here. Be on the lookout for Marzi Montazeri doing vocals in Shai Hulud on our next tour.

The reunion bombed. That's being nice. No one at all gives a f*ck. But this dude was in the Illegals and then this... imagine how bad the next thing he does is going to be???

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Pantera was Exhorder with major-label backing. Exhorder was Pantera without the good songs. The whole thing is now a chapter is rock and roll history.

Pantera was Exhorder with major-label backing. Exhorder was Pantera without the good songs. Pretty much. "Slaughter in the Vatican" was a good album back in the day -- 30 years ago -- but uber cringe lyrics and not some underground masterpiece or anything. Their show in my city was like $30 at a tiny dive bar. No wonder tour didn't do well.

Yeah, bunch of you nailed it. Exhorder had a cool idea, that Pantera took and made much much better. It's pretty apparent listening to the reunion record these guys are far from musical geniuses.

People saying they were the forefathers of metal are laughable. There literally was nothing groovy about them . They started off as a slayer rip-off, them implemented some thrash elements and retained the Tom Araya scream, which people call original for some strange reason. Don't get me wrong, i love me some slaughter in the Vatican but they were mediocre at best.
