I The Breather sign with Pavement Entertainment
Official press release:
I, the Breather is an American metalcore band from Baltimore, Maryland. Brainchild of vocalist Shawn Spann, the band formed in late 2009. They quickly became a powerhouse in the metalcore scene with their unique blend of heavy riffs mixed with melodic and ear catching melodies and vocal harmonies.
The band released three well-received albums, These Are My Sins (2010), Truth and Purpose (2012), and Life Reaper (2014) before disbanding in 2015.
Fast forward to 2021, I, The Breather announced their return with a new energy and focus to once again bring their unique form of metal back to the masses. On September 8, 2021, the band released a new single and video for the song "Brainsic," which quickly reinstated their presence within their genre.
This led to the band signing with Pavement Entertainment and gearing up for a brand new full-length album tentatively due in Spring of 2022. The band will continue to tour and release new content leading up to the release of its new masterpiece.
Vocalist Shawn Spann says, "Taking a break from music was one of the toughest choices of my life and I really lost myself during that time. Our music has been therapy for me and to have an opportunity like this to continue is a blessing. This second chapter of I, Breather is a chance to do what we really want as a band, which we weren’t able to do in our earlier years."
During his hiatus, Spann became angry toward the music industry. He shares, "Having a label back us was the last thing I wanted, but after genuine conversations with Tim King from Pavement Entertainment, my hope in working with a team had been restored. I am just very humbled to have this opportunity. Not only am I doing this for myself, I am doing it for those around me who believed in me when I was not my strongest. I want to take this and show people that you can go from the lowest you could ever imagine, to achieving what you dreamed of your whole life. I can’t wait for this next chapter of I, the Breather."
