Carnifex had been scheduled to co-headline a five-week North American tour that was to commence in mid-March, the same week that the American economy was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour was officially canceled on March 12, at which point the band said they were "now digging out of a massive pile of debt."
The extent of the debt has now been revealed by frontman Scott Lewis, who says the band lost $250,000 from the tour cancellation, including $60,000 that Lewis personally lost. Responding to remarks from Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin regarding relief checks from the United States government, Lewis had this to say:
Lewis subsequently added that Carnifex will survive with the help of their fans and record label:Carnifex lost over $250,000 with our tour cancellation. I personally lost about 60K. I don't get to tour for 6 more months. Burn these people alive. https://t.co/NvUaE3fIxl

[via ThePRP]We'll survive. Our fans and our label Nuclear Blast have our backs like no other. The whole thing is fucked though, so much great talent that needs a chance.
