ex-Weedeater drummer jailed for spiking wife's drink with meth
Michael 'Keith' Kirkum, former drummer of North Carolina stoner metal band Weedeater, has been arrested for allegedly spiking his wife's mixed drink with methamphetamine.
Kirkum, 47, was charged with "secret assault, assault on a female, resisting arrest, and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse," with bond set at $100,000.
According to WECT 6, Kirkum's wife went to emergency room after not sleeping for 36 hours, at which point she tested positive for meth. Eventually, she recalled that prior to her bout of insomnia, she had consumed a rum drink with an "odd bitter taste." Kirkum's wife is reportedly in the process of securing a divorce.
When police confronted Kirkum at home, he answered the door with a gun before fleeing on foot. He was arrested after a brief chase.
The band's original drummer, Kirkum was a member of Weedeater from 1998 through 2014.
