Grammys apologize to Metallica for awards show mishap

The producer of the Grammy Awards has offered an apology to Metallica for the technical issues that marred a portion of the band's performance with Lada Gaga last Sunday night. Specifically, the microphone for frontman James Hetfield was not working for most of the group's live rendition of their song "Moth Into Flame." A visibly annoyed Hetfield was "livid," according to drummer Lars Ulrich. "These kinds of things are horrible when they happen," producer Ken Ehrlich said in an interview with The Associated Press. "That's one of the risks of live television." "My guys say that the mic cable was connected," he said. "My guys' theory was that... one of the extras (on stage) accidentally kicked out the cable that went to the mic." "Obviously, we apologize to the band," Ehrlich summarized.
