Vancouver, Canada metal outfit Bison B.C. (aka Bison) has announced the departure of bass player Masa Anzai. Replacing Anzai in the lineup is Shane Clark. The band has issued the following statement:
"Farewell to the 3 stringed bass... It is with a heavy and understanding heart we tell you that Masa Anzai is retiring from the music business. It is with our best wishes and support he goes off to pursue other shit he has always wanted to pursue. Masa Anzai is one of the best people I have ever met in my life, ever.
"Masa has done so much for this band. He possesses a creative fire in his bass playing and genuine genius for subtly in song arrangement. He was the finance guy and could drive for 18 hours straight. He was a friendly and approachable face behind our merch table and kept it running like a well-oiled machine. He very often took on the less glamorous parts of being in a touring band and he carried out these duties with a sense of purpose and a humbling work ethic. Far more often than not he drove his drunk band mates around looking for a cheap motel after the show.
"Masa took good care of us, he played amazing bass, was a fun guy to live in a van with and was a good guy to everyone he met. Masa, we love you buddy.
"That being said, please extend a warm welcome to our new bass player, Shane Clark. Shane is a long time Vancouver music scene soldier and veteran in the war on posers. Welder, drinker, mover and shaker, Shane has been known to shred a guitar or two in bands such as Ten Miles Wide and 3 Inches of Blood. Shane is family, a talented musician and more than road worthy. We are stoked to have him aboard."
