Killer says Slayer involved in murder

On May 3, 2014, Maine resident Leroy Smith III reportedly stabbed his 56-year-old father to death, then dismembered the body and left body parts in a nearby rural area. Smith initially told investigators that after killing his father, he "filleted him and buried him in the woods because his dad sexually assaulted him his whole life." In a hearing several days after his arrest, Smith, 24, claimed that he was a "political prisoner." Not surprisingly, Smith was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation. Fast forward to yesterday, January 5, and an Augusta, Maine judge has now ruled that Smith is not mentally fit to stand trial. According to CentralMaine.com, the order came directly after a competency hearing that featured some odd ramblings from Smith, including one in which he claimed to have influenced by Slayer, an interaction which Smith says culminated in the suicide of guitarist Jeff Hanneman [Hanneman died from alcohol-related cirrhosis, not suicide]. Here are some of Smith's remarks:
"I have something I want to say... With my case, they're telling me that my story is delusional grandiose of proceedings that happened. They're not investigating it, that it happened." "[at some point in 2011] I had a gun held against my head and was sworn to keep secret about what I am. They refused investigating any persons responsible. The whole entire group Slayer was there. I was told then that what they did was too overboard. I sent them a message on Facebook and Jeff Hanneman guitarist took his own life. He took his own life May 5."
Director of the State Forensic Service, Ann LeBlanc, who investigated Smith for the court, said that Smith has been unable to communicate with his lawyers: "He had delusions that he thought he was God, grandiose delusions he was the best guitarist in the world." CentralMaine.com suspects that Smith will eventually be held at Riverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta.
