Mastodon reveals producer for new album

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor revealed that band will soon be recording their new album with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush). Dailor had the following to say about Nick Raskulinecz: "He's a rock guy. He's a rocker. He likes to rock. He's done a bunch of our friends' records that sound great. I'm a fan of all the Deftones records he's done, all the Alice in Chains stuff, and he worked with Queens of the Stone Age on Songs for the Deaf." Mastodon has written roughly 18 songs for the forthcoming effort, a handful of which will actually make into onto the record. "It's gonna be massive and insane, lots of epic greatness," Dailor told Rolling Stone. "There will be lots of huge riffs and new directions. It's real weird, real math-y, real straightforward. It's up, down and all around... It's a culmination of everything for the band. The snowball keeps rolling and collecting snow."

I fail to see how a shitty fan base or having douchey band members is relevant when it comes to music. Looking forward to the album, love everything they've done so far.

That producer is the fat guy from the Sound City movie.

anonymous 11/21/2013 9:29:23 AM

These guys sound terrible live

anonymous 11/21/2013 1:42:24 PM

Can't stand these guys, always name dropping, bragging about producers etc, Islander would never do that.

anonymous 11/21/2013 1:46:31 PM

^Islander doesn't need to, they let their talent do the talking and don't need hype.

anonymous 11/21/2013 5:33:24 PM

I think he meant to say "The shitball keeps rolling and collecting shit" because these guys haven't released anything worthwhile for about 7 years or so now.

anonymous 11/21/2013 5:38:20 PM

These guys sound terrible un-live

anonymous 11/21/2013 6:08:12 PM

anonymous 11/21/2013 7:39:03 PM

Don't listen to this article. It's me. I'm producing the album.

phil666 11/21/2013 10:27:58 PM

Nick Raskulinecz is a good producer, but this album is doomed to suck major d. Last record was awful. Its not like they are gonna gonna go back to playing Remission era Mastodon. They are just gonna keep sucking.

bardamu 11/22/2013 1:42:46 PM

worst band. stop making music. no one cares, you havent been good since remission
