Slayer begins recording new album

Thrash metal legends Slayer have begun recording a new album, which they hope to complete by September and release in early-2013. According to Rolling Stone, the band recently finished two songs, began work on two others, and demoed two more with producer Greg Fidelman, with whom they worked on 2009's World Painted Blood. Speaking to Rolling Stone on opening day of this summer's Mayhem Festival, guitarist Kerry King said, "If I get off my ass and start writing again on the road – since we've been in Europe, I keep trying to work on lyric ideas, maybe some leads, and fixing songs that didn't work correctly – it should be a real quick process." Thus far, the band has been unable to work with guitar player Jeff Hanneman, who continues to recover from a spider bite. King explained: "After Mayhem we'll reevaluate and see if he's any closer. We're planning for him to come back and the door is open, because it's his fucking gig. If he can play, Jeff Hanneman is going to fucking be here, and I'm stoked about that. I love playing with Gary [Holt, Exodus], and he's doing a killer job, but if Jeff came back and said 'I'm ready,' I'll check him out to see that he's ready, and off we go."

Artery Recordings is not stoked about their latest signing being overshadowed by this actual newsworthy information.

To Anon: nope, my favorite Slayer songs are Seasons In The Abyss, Killing Fields, and Angel Of Death. Raining Blood is a classic though
