Slayer writing new album

Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo has revealed that the band is currently writing material for a new album. Details are sparse, with Lombardo offering only the following: "Slayer is writing a new record." Earlier this year Slayer singer/bassist Tom Araya stated that the band would not begin wrting a new album until guitarist Jeff Hanneman's condition was sufficiently improved. As you may recall, Hanneman has been battling necrotizing fasciitis since early-2011. Since Hanneman is integral to Slayer's song-writing process (after all, Hanneman did write Slayer classics like "Raining Blood," "War Ensemble," "South of Heaven," and "Angel of Death"), one could infer that his condition has indeed improved significantly. Lombardo seems to have more or less confirmed this, saying "Jeff is still recovering and doing better." We're sure further details will materialize shortly.
