Slayer postpones UK/European tour

Official press release: It is with immense disappointment that Slayer must postpone its UK and European tour that had been set to kick off on November 18 in the UK, and take the band on 19 dates through Europe, ending on December 17 in Germany. The tour will be rescheduled to kick off on March 7 in Manchester, England (complete itinerary is below). Vocalist/bassist Tom Araya has been under the care of a specialist for a back injury, and while he has already made substantial improvement, he is continuing on with doctor-prescribed treatment. "Right now," said Slayer's manager, Rick Sales, "our main concern must be the full and permanent recovery of Tom, so we have decided to clear the calendar and give him the extra time he needs to concentrate solely on good health." Last week, Slayer announced the postponement of its east coast "Canadian Carnage" co-headline tour with Megadeth; those dates will be rescheduled in February 2010. The new UK/European schedule is: 07/03 ENG, Manchester Academy 08/03 ENG, London Forum 09/03 ENG, London Forum 11/03 FRA, Paris Bataclan 13/03 GER, Bochum Ruhrcongress 15/03 HOL, Tilburg 013 16/03 HOL, Tilburg 013 17/03 BEL, Brussels AB 18/03 GER, Herford X 20/03 GER, Berlin Columbiahalle 21/03 GER, Hamburg Docks 22/03 GER, Cologne Live Music Hall 24/03 GER, Dresden Alter Schlachtof 25/03 AUT, Vienna Gasometer Early Show 26/03 GER, Munich Zenith 28/03 ITA, Milan Alcatraz 29/03 ITA, Milan Alcatraz 30/03 SWI, Zurich Volkshaus Late Show 31/03 GER, Wiesbaden Schlachthof 02/04 ENG, Nottingham Rock City 03/04 SCO, Glasgow Barrowland 04/04 ENG, Leeds Academy 05/04 ENG, Birmingham Academy
