Official press release:
West Virginia's Castle Grayskull has announced that they've signed with Standby Records. The metal/hardcore act formed in January of 2008 and have since been working to build a strong regional fanbase by playing constant live shows and on the strength of their EP, which they recorded with Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada). When asked about signing with Standby, keyboardist Nolan commented, "We started casually shopping ourselves online, but we weren't really sure where it was going to go. Standby showed interest in us and after a few conversations, we headed up to Cleveland to meet them. They were all really friendly, honest, and straight forward, which really helped us feel at home with them as a label. We're excited to get out on the road and to have a record out in stores. There haven't been very many bands from West Virginia to accomplish that so it's a big feat for us."
The band recently finished their full their debut full-length at Chin Studios with Don DeBiase and Johnny Burke (Beneath The Sky) due out late summer/early fall 2009. Nolan commented on their sound, "We want to play music that makes us smile when we hear it. We're not trying to be the most metal band out there or the most brutal thing you've ever heard, because we know we're not. We just play music that we love in hopes that others will love it as well."
