Record Store Day Black Friday 2024 Releases to Look For

Per their website, "Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently-owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally."

The first Record Store Day was in April 2008, and two years later, they added Record Store Day Black Friday "as part of the attempt to redirect the focus of the biggest shopping day of the year to the desirable, special things to be found at these local, independently-owned small businesses."

For this year's Record Store Day Black Friday, taking place on Friday, November 29, there are over 150 releases on offer in multiple formats. We've broken out the heaviest releases to aid you when you head out.

Asking Alexandria The Black

The second-ever vinyl pressing for The Black, Asking Alexandria’s 2016 album, with deluxe foil reflective packaging.

Biohazard Mata Leão

(Real Gone Music) LP

Biohazard’s first release as a trio. Produced by Dave Jerden of Jane’s Addiction and Alice in Chains fame, this 1996 release sees its first US issue on vinyl, complete with printed inner sleeve.

Circa Survive Descensus

(Sumerian Records) LP

Celebrating the ten-year anniversary of Circa Survive’s 2014 album Descensus with its second-ever vinyl pressing.

Engine Kid The 1993 Steve Albini Sessions

(Southern Lord) 2xLP

The debut album from Engine Kid recorded by Steve Albini in his basement circa 1993. Double LP in a Stoughton gatefold jacket with a pen/ink tribute drawing of Albini recording the session done by bassist Brian Kraft.

Jane's Addiction “Imminent Redemption”

A two-track 12” on black vinyl. The inner sleeve has art and lyrics and a limited number of randomly distributed copies are autographed by one or more band members.

Lacuna Coil The EPs: Lacuna Coil & Halflife

Combines the self-titled EP from 1998 and the 2000's Halflife EP from 2000, onto a single LP on "Apricot Dream" vinyl.

Lamb of God Ashes of the Wake Live

(Legacy Recordings) 2xLP

Lamb of God's live performance of Ashes of the Wake in Richmond, VA. Filmed during the band's hometown lockdown livestream during lockdown, this release is available for the first time since 2020. The double LP set has three sides of music and an etched design on the fourth side.

Motley Crue Dr Feelgood (35th Anniversary 7" Single Boxset)

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the number one Billboard Top 200 and six-time platinum album, all five original singles from Motley Crue's 1989 album are presented on 7" color vinyl, including the original b-sides and remastered art.
