Scott Weiland, former Stone Temple Pilots singer, dead at 48

Scott Weiland, ex-frontman of Stone Temple Pilots (and Velvet Revolver), passed away in his sleep in Bloomington, MN last night. Weiland was in town to perform with his band The Wildabouts.

From Billboard:

The Bloomington, Minn. Police Department issued a statement at 11:15 p.m. PT detailing the events as such: On Dec. 3rd at 8:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male in a recreational motor vehicle located in the 2200 block of Killebrew Drive. "Officers arrived and determined the adult male was deceased," read the release, which did not identify the deceased. The address seems to correspond to a local Country Inn & Suites hotel.

We don't cover Weiland or The Stone Temple Pilots on Lambogat, but I've certainly hummed along to "Plush" and "Vasoline" a few times. RIP.

STP was one of my faves. Purple and Songs from the Vatican are great albums. Their songs will make sense to kids on this site once they hit their mid twenties. RIP

Core was also one of the first tapes I owned. It was a birthday present from my sister. Was actually listening to it a few nights ago for the first time in years. RIP.

Clearly died from drugs. This dude had it all and couldn't just stop using drugs...yet people with not even 1% of what he had could kick the habit. Just goes to show what kind of loser this dude was.

His Howard Stern interviews were great. He opened up about a lot of crazy stuff- his ex-wife, the Kurt Cobain death, big issues with STP, and the drug problems. Dude saw some shit, RIP.
