Of course how could I not say something about the death of Dimebag Darrell? I was not a fan of Damageplan, or post-Far Beyond Drive Pantera, but the dude was ok in my book. More importantly, Vulgar Display Of Power was one of the greatest albums ever. I still remember buying it in 1993. I was in New York City with a few friends for the day. I had heard bits and pieces of them on Headbangers Ball (this was when Rikki Rachtman was hosting) and figured it was something worth looking into. So in NYC I went into Tower Records or something and bought it. I can still remember getting home that night, sitting in my living room and listening to the CD in its entirety. Not surprisingly, that CD was pretty much all I listened to for the next several weeks. Fucking genius. Although I respect Dimebag's recent musical output less than that of Phil Anselmo, as a person, I respect Dimebag much more. Phil's always around preaching, whining, whatever. Fuck that. Darrel was all about his guitar. No bullshit. R.I.P. Dimebag!
