Florida's Glasseater began in 1998 as a progressive rock band incorporating varying musical influences into its sound. As the band's line-up solidified, and its members began to write more material, and out came melodic tunes that crossed the boundaries of hardcore and pop punk. Prior to their first East Coast tour that winter, the band would experience a slight personnel change in the bass position. Nevertheless, Glasseater completed the tour with success. Following several more tours, Glasseater would gain the attention of record label Ides of March (Shai Hulud guitarist Matt Fox's label). Ides of March would release the band's debut full-length, "Miles Ahead of Where We Left Off" in 1999. More tours would follow, and the unit would align itself with Eulogy Recordings (Unearth, Twelve Tribes). "7 Years Bad Luck" would be published on Eulogy. More-recently, Glasseater has moved onto Fearless Records, which has re-mixed, re-mastered, and re-packaged "7 Years Bad Luck," and will be releasing the band's forthcoming full-length, expected in 2002. Glasseater has toured vigorously during its career, sharing the stage with punk bands mxpx, Avail, and New Found Glory, as well as hardcore acts Poison the Well, Reach The Sky, and Boy Sets Fire. Fans of melodic influenced hardcore comparable to Lifetime and Saves The Day should check out Glasseater. read less
