What's that you say Justin Broadrick of Godflesh/Jesu and Aaron Turner of Isis (and others) made a record together This will, without a doubt, be one that can't be ignored! Sure -- unless, of course, this esteemed project sounds like Greymachine, in which case it can be ignored very easily. At its core, the material on Disconnected should be ear candy. Heavy, industrial beats for a backbone, ominous atmosphere, and scathing touches of noise all should be reasons for this record's success. In a way, it's almost like if Godflesh and the first track off of Isis' The Red Sea were thrown in a blender. But somehow, that puréed result still sounds better in my head than what we've got to work with here. So here's the problem, the red-handed culprit, the root of it all: Greymachine's Disconnected sound like it was shit out in a day. Not recorded in a day, but rather conceptualized, conceived, laid to tape, and forgotten in a day. Each and every track is merely a reckless flow of bland drum beats driven hard to saturation (think each cymbal crash momentarily washing out the recording) accompanied by unmemorable guitar lines and highly distorted screams. It's not hard to understand what they're trying to achieve with this record. And in that respect, yes, this is a fairly abrasive and noisy take on a lot of Broadrick and Hydra Head-type releases. But it's just so goddamn forgettable. However, just to keep the criticisms in check, it's worth saying that Disconnected isn't necessarily horrendous. Every track does have a moment or two that is interesting in a gritty and heavy sort of way, so it's reasonable to expect a few diehards to fight through the flaws in songwriting (or rather, lack thereof), general repetitiveness, and watered down Godflesh-style tricks to find something to love about this record. But at the end of the day, this is the exact definition of mediocre. And that's a bummer. Bottom Line: There are easily a twelve to fifteen releases between Broadrick and Turner that are far better than Greymachine's brand of industrial dissonance presented on Disconnected. It's tough having to admit that two gentleman responsible for contributing to so many influential records are capable of releasing something so incredibly middle of the road. But it's the truth.

You f*cking shithead. You don't know the first thing about catchy heaviness; we put a lot of time and effort into this CD, and it's one of the catchiest, heaviest releases of the year. We better not catch you around at any shows, because if my crew sees you, you'll wish you never got out of bed that day. Oh, and to everyone who actually CARES about this record, listen up! Thanks to everybody who bought it already but for those who have not been able to find it, try TARGET, yes TARGET is stocking

The comments on this site are not even funny anymore and rarely have anything to do with the music. Lambgoat is a joke and the people that are quoting comments from months ago only prove my point more. Lambgoaters are the most boring and pointless people that have ever existed, This has become a site where no one has anything relevant to say ever. And speaking of relevance I disagree i think this is a solid release and as hard as it is not to compare to their other projects, its a completely dif

I often agree about the nonsense that's spewed forth on this board, but this comment thread I think has turned out to be pretty funny.

Seriously your all gayots. I would rather listen to a bunch of middle aged women whine about the yeast infections than to hear an opinion of older stubborn f*cks still living at there parents house working dead end jobs or tattoo shops. Go kill yourselves.

Can defently understand why people arn't into this. This is pretty much a straight noise release... and I love it.
