When members of Mouthpiece and The First Step get together to make a record that sounds like Black Flag and Judge, the result should be a jaded hardcore vet's wet dream, right Triple Threat's debut EP seeks to combine the roots of hardcore punk with its 90's evolution to create something urgent, driving and powerful and to an extent, it works. The record captures a certain energy and anger uncommon to most of today's hardcore bands. Unfortunately, the songs themselves aren't particularly impressive. Out of four original tracks, not one was memorable enough to stand out, even against the rest of the record. When experienced hardcore musicians get together, I usually expect them to bring something stylistically interesting to the table. The slower portion near the end of "You Had A Choice" was really the only thing that stood out as being particularly creative and by that point it was too little, too late. The disc closes with a cover of Black Flag's "Fix Me," which seems like a bad move. After hearing their lackluster rendition, I was only reminded of how much better the original really was. Bottom Line: I've got to admire that these guys love hardcore and truly want to make great music together, this EP just didn't quite cut it. It's a fun (yet forgettable) listen from a group of sincere guys. There's not much else to say.

the mp3 wasn't half as bad as it was made to sound. 4/10.. it can't be that bad.

That's crazy. I thought this was f*cking great when I heard it. Has kind of a Bl'ast feel to it at times.

The mp3 is one of the better songs off the record. the rest is pretty mediocre, save for the intro. i agree with the blast comparison. especially in the drumming. they just need some better songs tho

I really like that mp3 i thought it was cool that mp3 alone should make the disc a 6/10 at leadt they didnt have that ultra gain 5150 sound that everyone else nowadays does i liked the sound alot.

what happens every tim bands who just replicate youth crew hardcore get a new band? nothing and this review is an indication. cool that they tried but they are noted for the bands they WERE in/ ARE in. no reason to have another one.

The intro is great the song obsession is amazing... This 7" is well worth getting. I think its great that Tim, Jay, Ed, Ed, and Aaron tried a different style of Youth Crew music. Kodos to them.
