BIOGRAPHICAL DATA: Formed in 1998, Sweden's The Great Deceiver features ex-At the Gates vocalist, Tomas Lindberg, but the band's sound is quite different from the vocalist's previous unit. Within a year of being together, The Great Deceiver would sign with Swedish independent label, Bridge Records (European affiliate of New Jersey's Trustkill Records), and release its mini-CD/10" "Jet-Black Art." Combining elements of hardcore and metal, the band, both lyrically and musically, has been compared to a Sepultura-meets-Neurosis. The Great Deceiver has toured extensively around Sweden, and is currently working on a new, forthcoming full-length. Listeners should note that the band also released a CDEP, "Cave-in," on Bridge Records in 1999.
